You probably know one or more people with a ‘no attitude‘. They are the sort of people that drain the life out of the place. Their negativity may not be intentional and what’s worse is that person could be you!
Low Motivation
When you constantly possess a “no” attitude it causes your perspective to be more pessimistic. This lack of optimism about potential positive outcomes can in turn lead to a lack of motivation. When you automatically expect things to go negatively or turn out poorly you won’t feel any inspiration to try. This low motivation in turn can impact your effectiveness and decrease your overall success.
High-Stress Levels
People who possess a “no attitude also see higher levels of stress than individuals who are more open and optimistic. Holding such a negative outlook often correlates with higher levels of anxiety, greater risks of depression, and poor mental health.
Each of these elements increases stress which means elevated levels of cortisol in the body, which can also mean an increased risk of chronic health issues. Chronic pain disorders, migraines/headaches, gastrointestinal disorders, and insomnia are among some of the physical issues that can arise.
Missed Opportunities
When you constantly feel negative about life and turn things down regularly, you miss out on opportunities. The fear or hesitation about how things might turn out prevents you from taking risks, even when there is evidence to demonstrate that the outcome will likely be positive.
Poor Relationships with Others
Being a person who has a “no” attitude can be a strain on others, making the ability to form or maintain relationships difficult. Most people do not want to spend their time with someone who is going to constantly drag them down with a negative attitude or perspective. Thus, they will limit interactions and occasions when you spend time together to limit the influence of the negative attitude on them. This can mean most relationships in your life remain shallow or social interactions with people you love are limited in length and spaced out.
Less Enjoyment
Ultimately, a day in the life of a person who holds such a pessimistic attitude is likely far less enjoyable and fulfilling than a day in the life of an average person. Naturally, a person who has higher stress levels, less motivation, less fulfilling relationships, and misses out on opportunities will probably find themselves more down in life.
As previously mentioned, such an attitude and increased stress tends to correspond with higher levels of anxiety, increased instances of depression, and decreased health. So, it’s to be expected that such ailments would be associated with a less fulfilling life in general.
In these ways, it is simple to see how impactful a “no” attitude can be to an individual’s life. Not only can you harm yourself mentally and physically, but you can also see a negative impact on your relationships and interactions with others.
