The way we look has a massive impact on the way we feel, so wanting to look your best isn’t just a case of being shallow.

It’s not to say you need to look like a catwalk model every day, but being happy and satisfied with your appearance means you’re not being held back and you can take life by the horns and get out there and do what you need to do.

But what exactly can you do to boost your confidence and feel good about yourself? Here are some ideas.

 

Live a healthy lifestyle

Health and beauty go hand in hand, so it goes without saying that if you live a healthy lifestyle you will naturally look your best.

Good diet, exercise and enough sleep will result in healthy skin, hair and nails. You’ll find it easy to maintain a healthy BMI and stay looking toned and fit.

Base your diet on fruits and vegetables, aiming to eat them at every meal. Your diet should include whole grains, lean protein and a source of calcium.

In regards to exercise, find something you genuinely enjoy. If the gym isn’t for you, why not buy a bicycle or invest in some walking boots and make the most of your surroundings instead. You could join a dance or yoga class, or go swimming.

As well as warding off illness and being full of energy, your clothes will fit you better and you’ll generally just look as well as you possibly can. Pamper yourself

Living a healthy lifestyle will mean you’re bright eyed and bushy tailed. However, pampering yourself will help you to refine your looks and style.

Go regularly to the hairdresser who will trim split ends, and give you a cut and colour that suits you based on your age, features and personal style.

Go to a spa or salon for a facial, they will remove dead skin and intensely moisturise which can do wonders alongside a skincare routine at home.

Run hot baths and apply face and hair masks, it’s a great way to relax as well as look after yourself. Things like brow shaping and eyelash tinting, manicures and pedicures are all nice treats that can make you feel good and can be done at any salon.

Spend time with positive people

In the words of Oprah, ‘surround yourself only with people who are going to lift you higher.’ Genuinely good, positive people will build you up and help you to recognise your self worth.

While true confidence comes from within, good friends can help us to find it and show us our good points. Remove toxic people from your life, anyone that puts you down or makes you feel bad about yourself.
